Acar Buah- buahan Jeruk

Acar Buah Jeruk. Perfect combo for kurma curry, tomato rice and briyani rice. If you are planning for Hari Raya menu, then you may add this acar as additional side dish. Cook this acar few days in advance, store it in refrigerator and serve whenever we wish to.



Ingredients :

  • 800gm pickled mix fruits (jeruk)
    4 Tablespoon cooking oil
    1 Cinnamon stick
    3 Star anise
    2 Cloves
    2 Teaspoon mustard seeds
    8 Small red onion (shallots)
    4 Cloves garlic
    1 cm Ginger
    5 Tablespoon chili paste
    1 Tablespoon vineger (cuka)
    2 tablespoon chili sauce
    2 Tablespoon brown sugar/ white sugar
    Salt as needed
    1 Cup hot water (as needed)
    1 Tablespoon roasted sesame seeds

Let’s Cook the Acar

Prepare the required ingredients.

Chili paste, hot water and sugar measuremnt can be adjusted as per individual preference.

– Slice the pickled fruits to smaller pcs
– Garlic, ginger and 4 small onion – grind to paste
– the other 4 small onion sliced finely
– brown sugar to dilute with little hot water, strain it and keep aside 1st.




– Heat up 4-5 tablespoon cooking oil in a pan.
– Keep in medium heat.
– Start to fry the spices cinnamon stick, star anise and cloves.
– Add in the sliced onion. Saute it in medium heat for about 2 minutes.

Then add in the chili paste. Saute it till it reach the “pecah minyak” stage. Stir as needed.

Once chili paste sauteed well, now add in the vinegar, chili sause (optional), salt, and brown sugar syrup.
– Let it to cook further 1-2 minutes.

Note : Brown sugar can be substitute with white sugar .

Once the chili paste cooked, add in the sliced jeruk buah-buahan (pickled fruit).
– Let the jeruk cook further in the chili paste gravy for 5-6minutes 1st.
– Then add hot water abt 1 cup or as needed for the acar gravy .
– Close with the lid, and let the acar cook for about 20-30 minutes in slow fire.

When almost done, add in the roasted sesame seeds.
– Check taste, season salt or sugar as needed.
– Adjust the acar gravy thickness, based on individual preferences. Add hot water as needed.

Note : If you plan to keep this acar for few days, then ensure the gravy been cooked properly, especially after adding new batch of water.
