Claypot Fish Curry

Cook your favorite fish in a clay pot. You may not need to have store bought (ready mix) fish curry powder . But will definitely love the gravy from this recipe by mixing grounded spices by yourself…..

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingrediants :

  • 500gm — Fish fillet ( Red snappers/Ikan merah or Garaupa )
  • 1 Tspoon – Mustard seeds
  • 1 Stick – Cinnamon
  • 1 Large – Onion (sliced)
  • 1 Tblspoon – Ginger Garlic Paste ( 3 cloves garlic & 3 cm ginger)
  • 1  Green Chili
  • 1 Stalk – Curry leaves

Grounded spices (Powdered) :

  • 1 Tblspoon Red Chili  +  Tblspoon Coriander + 1 Tspoon cumin + 1 Tspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 Cup – Thick coconut milk
  • 1 Tblspoon – Vinegar
  • 1 Large – Tomato ( sliced)
  • 4 – Ladies Finger
  • Oil for saute
  • Salt as per taste
  • Coriander and curry leaves for garnishing

Note : Mix the grounded spices mentioned above with a half cup of water before adding into the cooking pot.

Method as below :

  1. Heat the oil in the clay pot (2 tablespoon cooking oil).
  2. Add in mustard seeds and cinnamon stick, fry it for few seconds.
  3. Followed by curry leaves, onion, ginger garlic paste, green chili. Saute those for about 1-2 minute.
  4. Can add in the grounded spices ( red chili + coriander+ turmeric + cumin). Stir fry it for a while.
  5. Add a little hot water just to ensure the above spices is cooked.
  6. Add in the coconut milk (simmer for 3 to 5 minutes). Add hot water (to adjust the thickness of the gravy as per your preference).
  7.  Add 1 tablespoon (or lesser) of vinegar.
  8. Once the gravy is well boiling , add in the fish fillets, sliced tomato and the ladies finger.
  9.  Add in salt to taste.
  10. Let the curry simmer for about 10 minutes in the clay pot.

Note :

Garnishing it with fresh coriander and some curry leaves at the end of cooking process.The aroma will enhance the taste of the fish curry further.
